terminology

COMMON TERMS THAT ARE GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Power Rank – Every character in this game has a “Power Rank,” the sum of points spent into creating that character. Every superpower has a point value, as well as the stats Brawn, Agility, and Mind. There’s devices in the system to be able to allow players to detect power levels on other characters they meet, if so inclined.
  • Outsider – the Outsider disadvantage is used to describe a character who has trouble fitting into normal society due to their foreign nature. While applicable in, say, a middle-easterner visiting Canada, it’s usually applied in BASH to describe someone who has little in common with the general populace of Earth, such as aliens, constructs, and time-jumpers stuck in this era.
  • Unliving – the Unliving disadvantage is used to describe a character who isn’t alive by traditional means, meaning they can’t be healed by traditional means either; instead, a corresponding skill roll is made to heal. For example, a zombie character may use Occult:Necromancy to recover health, and a robot may use Engineering or Technology to repair.
